About the Artist
Kaitlyn Wallace is a 26 year old interdisciplinary artist from Las Vegas, Nevada who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting from the University of Oregon in 2020.
"As an artist from Las Vegas, my work is a reflection of the city's unique blend of glamour, excess, and hypersexuality. Drawing inspiration from the ornate and intricate art of the Baroque era, I create candles, oil paintings, and digital art that explore the intersections of beauty, power, and sexuality in the modern world.
My candles are an extension of this ethos, with each one featuring a unique blend of fragrances that evoke the opulence and sensuality of Las Vegas. From the sweet and sultry notes of jasmine and bergamot to the rich and spicy scents of sandalwood and patchouli, each candle is a celebration of the city's vibrant and seductive energy. In my oil paintings and digital art, I explore the complex and often contradictory ways in which beauty, power, and sexuality intersect in the modern world. Drawing upon the ornate and detailed aesthetics of the Baroque era, my works feature a range of feminist motifs and themes that challenge and subvert traditional gender roles and power dynamics.
At the same time, I am also deeply fascinated by the hypersexual aesthetics of Las Vegas, and the ways in which they both reflect and reinforce our cultural obsessions with beauty and sexuality. Through my art, I seek to explore and interrogate these issues, inviting viewers to question their own assumptions and beliefs about the nature of beauty and desire. Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to create works that are both visually stunning and socially relevant, challenging viewers to think critically about the world around them while also celebrating the beauty and complexity of the human experience."
