About the Artist
Kaitlyn Wallace is a 26 year old interdisciplinary artist from Las Vegas, Nevada who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting from the University of Oregon in 2020.
"As an artist from Las Vegas, my work is heavily inspired by the excess and glamour of the city, combined with the dramatic art of the Baroque era. I make candles, oil paintings, and digital art that explore the intersections of beauty, power, and sexuality in both history and the modern world.
My candles are made with unique blends of fragrances that evoke the opulence and sensuality of Las Vegas. In my oil paintings and digital art, I explore the complex and often contradictory ways in which beauty, power, and sexuality intersect. Drawing upon the aesthetics of the Baroque era, my works feature a range of feminist motifs and themes that challenge and subvert traditional gender roles and power dynamics.
I am deeply fascinated by the performative sexuality of Las Vegas, and the ways in which it reflects and reinforces our cultural obsessions with beauty. Through my art, I seek to explore these issues, inviting viewers to question their own assumptions and beliefs about the nature of beauty and desire. Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to create works that are both visually stunning and socially relevant, challenging viewers to think critically about the world around them and explore the complexity of the human experience."
